OUR STORY

Who knew Lindsey and Nathan would each move to New York City after college graduation, only to meet a fellow Minnesotan? She’s from Hopkins, and he’s from Edina – it’s a classic Minnesota love story.

In June 2019, Nathan had a visitor in town: the one and only Dan Waggoner, Nathan’s childhood best friend and a friend of Lindsey’s from middle school. Dan was visiting Nathan in Hell’s Kitchen and together had big weekend plans at the Belmont Stakes. The night before the race, Dan knew Lindsey was living in New York and thought it would be only right to invite her out for the evening to catch up.

Dan and Nathan met Lindsey at her East Village apartment, and the three of them headed for the Public Hotel rooftop. As they took in the city views, Nathan and Lindsey quickly connected, sharing stories of their lives in New York. They both happened to work for Macy’s at the time and coincidentally each had plans to visit back home in Minnesota for the 4th of July.

From that night on, it was always Lindsey and Nathan. At first, they often met for dates after work in Central Park, and by October 2019, they officially became a couple. Through a busy life in the city, a global pandemic, a move to Denver in 2022, and now owning a home together in Linden Hills, Minneapolis — six years later, each year has been filled with more love than the last.

On Memorial Day weekend 2024, at Nathan’s family cabin on Bay Lake, Nathan proposed to Lindsey in the yellow boat. Bay Lake is a very special place to Lindsey and Nathan and the weekend marked the next chapter in their love story — one that began on a summer night out in New York City.
